Baku-Vienna-Baku direct flights are started

Baku-Vienna-Baku direct flights will be started from May 2. The flights planned to be carried out twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays will be operated by AZAL.

On the occasion of the start of direct flights, a presentation event was held on April 24 in Vienna, the capital of Austria, organized by the State Tourism Agency and the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Austria.

The Chairman of the State Tourism Agency, Fuad Naghiyev, who spoke at the event, noted that Baku-Vienna-Baku direct flights will contribute to the development of bilateral tourism relations, as well as mutual tourist exchange, and will make Azerbaijan more accessible to European tourists. Fuad Naghiyev for the purpose of promoting Azerbaijan as a tourist destination expressed his belief that large-scale measures have been taken, that special attention has been paid to the development of tourism at the state level, and that the number of tourists from Europe will increase in the post-pandemic recovery process.

Rovshan Sadigbayli, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Austria speaking at the event noted that the economic and commercial relations between Azerbaijan and Austria are developing dynamically, and the development of tourism relations will contribute to friendship and partnership relations.

Suzanne Kraus-Winkler, State Secretary for Tourism of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Economy of the Republic of Austria, who participated in the event, said that direct air flights play an important role in the field of tourism, providing people with convenient travel options and also bring economic benefits. She noted that the Vienna-Baku flights will play a fundamental role in the strengthening of tourism and economic relations between our countries, and will stimulate successful cooperation in tourism.

Samir Rzayev, the first vice-president of "Azerbaijan Airlines" Closed Joint Stock Company, expressed confidence that passenger transportation, flight comfort and service will be provided with high quality on direct flights to be operated by AZAL. He emphasized that in the next stage, direct flights to other European cities will be implemented by AZAL.

Florian Zengstshmid, Chief Executive Officer of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, who made a presentation about Azerbaijan's tourism potential said that the implementation of direct flights from Vienna to Baku is one of the strategic goals, and that the flights will have a positive effect on the expansion of tourism relations not only with Austria, but also with target countries such as Germany and Switzerland. He noted that the promotion and propaganda events, which are regularly held in Austria and aimed at increasing the number of tourists, will be intensified.

At the event attended by government officials from Austria, representatives of the tourism industry, and media representatives from Austria and Slovakia, the samples of Azerbaijan's national cuisine and winemaking products were presented, a cultural program was organized with the participation of national art masters.

It should be noted that the "ASAN Visa" electronic system is applied within the framework of the simplified visa regime for citizens of the Republic of Austria.
